Invisible Commander Koveed’s strategy was swift and effective. Ambush, outmaneuver and cause colossal damage. The plan had been largely successful as casualty figures kept rising as he marched the village.
Overwhelmed by the sheer casualty numbers, the village health front line commandos demanded for more ammunition which, like infirmaries were in short supply. Naabudani, the Royal King, had earlier conceded the land had not been fair in the distribution of infirmaries, promising to provide more to shore up the deficit.
Jomama, who was also staking a claim at the skin, took a swipe at Naabudani saying he was not leading the battle as effectively as he should as commander.
Jomama’s sympathizers echoed his assertion mocking Naabudani and calling him the biggest joker that had ever sat on the Royal Skin. They maintained Naabudani was being economical with the truth when he said it took only the invisible visitor from the east for him to realize there were not enough infirmaries in the land. Jomama himself had earlier promised to establish many more infirmaries if given the chance to be King.
Gatekeepers of the Village Shrine who, until the arrival of the enemy from the east capitalized on the credulity of the masses, making believe they spoke for the gods, were imbued with power to heal ailments, and even raise the dead, had become hungry and were beginning to mount pressure on Naabudani to allow for consultations (which were their main means of livelihood besides sales from amulets and potions with interesting names prefixed with “anointed” or “anointing”), promising to ensure strict adherence to the health protocols…
Naabudani had thus far done so well managing the situation, providing relief to the villagers in the form of water, firewood and cashtamins. But the pressure just wouldn’t stop…
As citizens supplicated, making various demands, Naabudani finally gave in. He made a revelation that turned tongues wagging. Addressing the village on television one late Sunday night, Naabudani asked the villagers to make judicious use of the secret.
The Konto Code from Maa Beki, the Royal Chef’s cuisine was a held long Royal family secret. Basing their arguments on the way prices of hand rubs had skyrocketed over a short period when it was announced that the potion possessed power against the invisible enemies from the east, many expressed their unhappiness with the revelation, accusing Naabudani of creating a situation that had the potential of causing Konto, the major ingredient in the prescription to grow to unusually high heights beyond the reach of citizens who were vertically disadvantaged. They feared soon the wonder plant would grow to unprecedented heights, touching the sky and many may not be able to pluck it.
