GNAT Volta Region Elects New Leadership for 2025-2029

The Volta Region Branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has ushered in a new executive team to guide the organization through the next four years, following elections held during its 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference.

Mr. Wisdom Osei Bonsu emerged as the new Regional Chairman, leading an executive that includes Maxwell Ayivor as Vice Chairman, Anthony Selorm Amegadzi as Treasurer, and Isaac Kofi Adeti as Regional Trustee.

The new leadership is blend of experience and strategic renewal. It comprises: Maxwell Makafui Bodza (Regional Youth Coordinator); Mickson Kwame Akpavor (Basic Schools Coordinator); Sitsofe Amemor (Regional Senior High Schools Rep); Newton Sefakor (TVET Coordinator); and Hagar Anewaba (GNATLAS Coordinator)

Other key positions include Forgive Yao Agoha (Education Administration Rep); Christian Kwame (Teachers’ Fund Trustee); Ms Vasty Nunana Egbetorhia (Special Female Representative to the National Council).

The conference, which also serves as the association’s 54th Annual meeting, selected Delta Akpah and Golo Fafa Abigail as special delegates to represent the region at the upcoming national conference.

The three-day event happened from July 23-25 at the Volta Regional GNAT Hall under the theme “Educating an African fit for the 21st Century: The Role of Policy Makers and the Unions in Ghana.

The new leadership will serve from 2025 to 2029, taking on the responsibility of advancing teachers’ interests and educational development in the Volta Region.
