Engineering: A Nation’s Undoing!

The Leposarium (Poly Clinic) stretch of the  Ho-Aflao road floods anytime it rains.

Residents were excited when, following massive flooding of homes and destruction of crops and personal property in the area, about a year ago, some so-called engineers and local authorities began reconstructing the bridge. Though the project caused much inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists they tolerated it in so far us it was for the greater good.
Greater good! No. Greater good never happened. What happened was the direct opposite to good. A bridge that should have been raised very high to allow large volumes of water to pass under never happened. Instead, brooms were used to sweep under the bridge and an asphalt laid over it. (I’m not an engineer, I don’t have the technical terms).
What should happen now (after the destruction caused by today’s rain) is another reconstruction. Yes, total reconstruction. That’s what I think as a non-engineer. And I hope this time the so-called engineers (will revise their engineering and planning notes) and come up with a better reconstruction plan before moving to site!
We’re watching!
