Episode 1: “The Price of Love”
Setting: Coffee shop, late afternoon. Kojo nervously adjusts his shirt as Bella scrolls through her phone.

Kojo Kasa: Bella, I’ve been thinking about us a lot lately. I love you. I’d like us to get to know each other better and see what the future holds.
Bella Bills: (still scrolling) Expressing love is no big deal…
Kojo Kasa: How so?
Bella Bills: (finally looking up) If you love me, you have to prove it in material terms.

Kojo Kasa: Really? Happy birthday in advance.
Bella Bills: Thank you. But you have to prove yourself. Wishing me a happy birthday orally doesn’t tickle my tongue. You gotta show some dough!
Kojo Kasa: (laughing nervously) Wow! Loving you sounds like full-time employment. Your father must have spent a fortune on your mother before finally marrying her.
Bella Bills: (standing up abruptly) Nonsense! Don’t you dare bring my parents into this!
Kojo Kasa: Bella, wait—
Bella Bills: (grabbing her purse) You either step up or step out, Kojo. I’m not running a charity here. Call me when you’re ready to be a real man.
(She storms out, leaving Kojo staring at his untouched coffee)
Kojo Kasa: (to himself) What just happened?
—
Kojo pulls out his phone and starts typing: “Kwame, I need to talk to you about something crazy that just happened…
